Overview

It was the late 90's when I began to explore different styles of yoga but it wasn’t until I enrolled on a Vinyasa yoga course with Katy Appleton that I found a practice that really resonated with me. I loved the emphasis on mindful movement, the connection of body to breath and the fact that my busy mind would be quiet for moments at a time. Fast forward to 2008, a move to Oxford and my first Vinyasa class at YogaVenue with the inspiring Alessandro Gozzi. It felt like coming home. Little did I know where it would lead...

As my practice developed, so did my desire to learn and explore. So much so that, in 2013, I embarked on a 200hr yoga teacher training with Sally Parkes. A few months later, I felt privileged to begin teaching at YogaVenue, my yogic ‘home’. Since then I’ve continued to learn and un-learn, becoming a certified Restorative Yoga teacher under the guidance of Judith Hanson Lasater, completing a Teen Yoga course with Christiane Kerr, Yin Yoga courses with Norman Blair and Biff Mithoefer and various workshops with other gifted teachers. I am honoured to be a mentor and tutor on YogaVenue Oxford’s 300hr Spiralling Crow Teacher Training course.

My yoga teaching is inspired by my teachers, my personal practice and a deep-seated belief that yoga is more than just a little magic. Classes include movement (asana), breath work (pranayama), simple meditation techniques and yogic philosophy. Too often, yoga can seem like an elite practice for beautiful, bendy people. I’ve never forgotten how much courage I had to summon up to attend my first yoga session. With this in mind, my classes are designed to be welcoming and accessible inviting individuals to explore the practice from their unique perspective.
