Overview

I qualified as an Anusara teacher in October 2017 having completed a 200hr teacher training programme with Bridget Woods Kramer at TriYoga in London.

Anusara was created by John Friend and is meant to be heartfelt and opening and a flow style practice from a physical perspective.  The principle of "Open to Grace" is an integral part of the practice and helps to open hearts and minds to the possibilities that be can gained not only physically, but spiritually and mentally from the practice.  So by setting the physical foundation and opening the heart and mind helps the student's alignment of their body and the energy that subsequently flows through the body during the practice.

In the autumn of 2019 I trained as a restorative teacher with Anna Ashby again at TriYoga in Camden.

In February 2020 I trained with Petra Coveney and qualified as menopause yoga teacher enabling me to teach groups and workshops, which works beautifully with Anusara and restorative yoga.

From a personal perspective I have practiced yoga for many years, but with consistent regularity since 2012.  I enjoy the complexity of the practice that quietens the chattering in my head by working with my breath as I move through the physical poses of the practice.  I find it immensely satisfying at the end of a practice that my mind is quieter, my body is more relaxed, yet rejuvenated from the practice.

I would be the first to admit that I am not the most spiritual of people and have found it hard to sit for long periods of time in meditation.  However, I am a firm believer in sitting quietly for a period of time, whether that be 5 minutes or 20 minutes to let the stresses and strains as well as the excitement and joy that life brings to be brought into focus.

I am in my forties, married and have worked in a highly pressurised corporate environment, I have also been a stay at home Mum to two children and watched both my parents suffer through their later years.   I have experienced many of life's hurdles, whether they be anxiety, panic, grief, disappointment, illness, fear of failure, hurt, anger and the list goes on.  On the other side I have also experienced great joy, wonder, love, appreciation, satisfaction, sense of accomplishment and again the list goes on.

I like to think that I have a good perspective on life, even with the nagging voice in my head and that I can face whatever comes my way, whether good or not so good.  I found that life is always teaching me something I did not know and I like to carry that philosophy with me as I go from day to day.

I have experienced many styles of yoga classes, some extremely solemn and disciplined where you dare not break a smile to classes where you end up falling out of poses in a fit of giggles.  For me I have found benefit from all classes I have taken, they have always taught me something about myself.

I like to think that I'm a teacher that can give her students a place to come and calm their minds, smile and relax, stretch and strengthen their bodies and leave feeling rejuvenated to face whatever life has in store for them.
