End Date

This will be a weekend for qualified yoga teachers to deepen their knowledge, gain some new skills and confidence as well as networking with other teachers.
The weekend will be 16 contact hours and 4 hours non-contact.

It will be effectively divided into 4 sessions detailed below and will include teaching sessions, group work, practical, theory and a chance to talk through any questions that you may have from your early teaching experience.

I will also include teaching pranayama and yogic meditation.

Session One: Gaining Confidence in Effective Adjustment
Looking at the fundamentals of adjustment and when and how to apply them.
Adjusting during sun salutations, standing, seated postures and twists.
Appreciating that adjustment aids the receiver’s understanding of asana and shows a clear and progressive pathway for their body to move into.

Session Two: Intelligent Sequencing –
Vinyasa Krama- devising creative asana sequences with a specific purpose.
Eg. accessing a challenging posture; working with a specific area of the body to strengthen and gain greater mobility; breaking down a posture into its components to better understand what is needed for its full expression.

Session Three: Backbending –
Understanding the anatomy of backbending.
How to help students to access and deepen backbends.
Adjustment of the different types of backbends – anti-gravity, eg. bhujangasana and dhanurasana; standing backbends; backbending from supine – eg. urdhva dhanurasana and setu bandha sarvangasana

Session Four: Working with Injuries
Looking at common injuries that can be caused by wrong practice, how to look out for them and how to correct.
Common injuries in everyday life and how they can be improved or supported through yoga practice.
Adaptations and modifications that can make practice accessible.
