Ideal for teachers who wish to teach students with movement difficulties. Also for those wishing to refine their practice.

In this workshop we will explore a range of backbends and inversions using the chair for support. Advancing your practice with the use of a chair, we will perform asanas which are difficult to perform independently. The use of props will help you stay longer and relax in more challenging asanas and reap the full benefit of a pose.

You will need a sturdy and stable chair. Preferably a folding metal chair with 2 horizontal rungs/bar welded between the 2 front legs and 2 back legs. Ideally the back support of the chair should be removed, exposing the frame of the backrest for ease of gripping but also for enabling the legs to go through for more advanced restorative postures.Ikea, Habitat and Sainsbury’s sell metal folding chairs very reasonably but they have a back rest which is not ideal for certain postures. The best yoga chair can be found via Yogamatters.
