The workshop is open to yoga practitioners of all levels, but is not suitable for complete beginners.

As we spend so much time these days sitting on chairs, when we come to the mat for our yoga practice most of us find that we have very tight hips. There are some very strong and deep muscles in the hips and pelvis and it can take time, patience and regular practice for them to begin to release and open.

This workshop will look at various ways to begin this process, so that you can start to prepare the body for eventually moving comfortably and safely in full and half lotus poses.

We will explore a variety of different ways to work on opening the hips whilst protecting the knees. Some of the postures will be active and dynamic ones and others will be more passive, longer-held and deep hip openers.

Our hips store a great deal of blocked energy so working deeply to open the hips can also release lots of energy and make you feel energised and rejuvenated.

Opening and releasing the hips is also extremely useful for achieving a better posture and more freedom in the spine in our daily lives.

All of the techniques that we cover will be things that you can take away and practice at home.

By the end of the workshop your hips should be feeling free and open. And whilst you may not be ready to try full lotus you will have all of the tools you need to continue releasing your hips at home so that this posture will become more possible over time, and you know how to safely work towards it.

Come along to explore, experiment and free your hips.
