Over a period of time stress, be it physical or mental, depletes us and can develop into autoimmune dysfunctions such as adrenal exhaustion, chronic pain, or CFS. The main challenge for people suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome and stress is that their condition is worsened by physical activity or exercise. With autoimmune disorders there can be a sense of betrayal due to body literally attacking itself. Restorative yoga and very gentle practice can help us learn how to relate to the body in a compassionate way, which is healing and nourishing. In this workshop we will gradually build energy through restorative postures held for longer periods of time with the support of the props and a very gentle movement.

Resting between the movements and the postures will be essential in order to feel increased flow of energy throughout the body. By stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system the postures will quell inflammation in the body common to autoimmune diseases. Muscular pain and weakness followed by low grade fever are some of the characteristics of a condition. This restorative sequence coupled with gentle movements is carefully balanced in order to support you without the aggravation to physical body.

This simple practice will give a sense of calm and wellbeing that lowers the body's production of physical and mental stressors that comprise the immune system.
