A 75-minute restorative yoga session with yoga nidra. The purpose is to practice “active relaxation”. Sessions normally include 2 asanas (postures) and use yoga props like bolsters and blocks, to help the body achieve the ultimate relaxed status. I'll send you some tips on how to DIY yoga props easily from what you have at home! We finish the session with a 45-minute yoga nidra, where you only need to lie on your back and relax!
We hold our poses for a longer time, supported by our props, which will prompt the bodies and minds to release unnecessary habitual tensions and discomfort. We learn how in doing less, we achieve more. It’s a fantastic tool to reconnect with our bodies and discover where we’re holding the tension, and how to let it go. With the active relaxation, we allow our fight or flight response to switch off, we feel safe and so we stimulate our rest and digest parasympathetic nervous system.
