Public Liability Insurance For Yoga Teachers

£6,000,000 indemnity

Not all yoga insurance is the same. If you have insurance as a yoga teacher but then stop teaching, many policies won't cover any claims related to the time when you were insured since it's not an active policy. That's where this policy is different; you will always be covered for the insured period.

With a Yoga Alliance Professionals membership, you can access an outstanding policy through the UK Branch of Balens Europe B.V.!

This policy will sufficiently cover you AND meet requirements set by most employers.

A master policy with:

How This Policy May Protect You And Your Students

A policy that covers what most gyms and studios require as standard, which means no extra hidden costs!

Teach Your Students Various Styles

The insurance policy in your Yoga Alliance Professionals membership covers you to teach all the techniques you have qualifications for relating to Yoga and/or Meditation. This includes Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga, Pregnancy Yoga, Kids and Teen Yoga etc.

If you teach Acro Yoga, Aerial Yoga and YogaLates, you will need to add-on the therapy policy

Still Got Questions?

What is professional indemnity?

This pays the teacher’s legal costs, as well as any compensation payments that may be due, if a yoga teacher’s student takes legal action against them for a mistake they have made when providing professional services, advice or designs to their student.

What is public and products liability?

This covers a yoga teacher’s business against: Injury caused to a third party during their business activities. Damage caused to third party property. Personal injury or damage to property arising from any product they have supplied.

How soon do I get my insurance documents?

Your insurance will be activated and your documents sent once you have completed our application process and finalised all the steps on your profile.

The activation is a manual process, so please allow one business day for our team to review your details.

*Can I run classes from home?

If you have insurance included with your YAP membership the policy is mobile so it will cover you to teach from home.  However, it only covers you as a teacher, it won't cover for any loss or damage to the building caused by a client or if a client were to be injured due to a fault with the building.

For this reason, it's very important to notify your home insurer if you intend to run your yoga business from your property. Your home insurer may be able to extend your policy or advise if you require additional cover but every insurer is different with different levels of cover and exclusions.

Be prepared to provide your home insurer with more information on your business; such as the number of visitors you receive and the type of equipment you have on site.

Can I teach live online classes?

Yes, you are able to do this. Provided you have a record of the student's name and email address and you have conducted a pre-class consultation with each of your students to assess their eligibility.

Can I post videos on YouTube/Instagram/Facebook?

Yes, your insurance policy will cover you for this provided you have the sufficient qualifications and your content is kept up to date. The content must be provided free of charge and you must consider relevant pre-class information. For example; the level of the techniques used (beginner, advanced), whether medical approval is required before participation and whether there are any contraindications.

Under the terms of the policy, this would be classed as non-treatment work and therefore cover is provided worldwide.

What Am I Insured To Teach?

The insurance policy included in your Yoga Alliance Professionals membership covers you to teach all the techniques included in your qualifications relating to Yoga and/or Meditation. This includes Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga, Pregnancy Yoga, Kids and Teen Yoga etc.

If you teach Acro Yoga, Aerial Yoga and YogaLates you will need to upgrade to the therapies policy (please see below).
