Overview

Founder & Director at Heather Yoga. Senior Yoga Teacher.

Sharing the practice of yoga.

Heather is a Senior Yoga Teacher and the Founder & Director of Heather Yoga – a yoga school & wellness centre based in Saltaire, West Yorkshire. She has been teaching for over 9 years in UK & India, including being an educator for trainee teachers and now leads her own own yoga teacher training and teacher mentorship programmes.

Heather enjoys the exploration of body & mind wellness & sharing her knowledge with others. Her ongoing 15 year practice of yoga has become an integral part of her life. She has practiced & studied with many teachers including her main teacher Jason Crandell who she has studied intensively with and assisted him on his UK offerings.

Heather teaches dynamic Alignment based Vinyasa & Hatha styles, Ashtanga Primary Series, along with Yoga For Sports, Yin & Restorative drawing from her various influences from the different schools of yoga, the philosophical texts & the teachers she has practiced with. Her classes are accessible & authentic, mindful & meditative, supportive & nurturing and inspiring with a focus on correct breathing and posture awareness.

Her training began on a four month trip to India at the end of 2010 which saw her undertaking a 200 hrs Yoga Alliance Teacher Training course in Goa. After qualifying at the start of 2011 she stayed on to work at the yoga school – teaching classes on a regular basis and assisting the main teacher with adjustments in class. She then spent the next 4 years returning to the school as one of the main teachers – teaching asana, posture workshops & specialising in Anatomy for Yoga whilst completing her 300 hrs Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Certificate.

Heather gained another 300 hrs certificate with her teacher Jason Crandell and is currently assisting him on his advanced teacher training 2019/2020. She also holds a 100 hours Teacher Training certificate in Meditation with Dr Keshava Murphy and has a keen interest in Ayurveda practices, incorporating these along with her mediation & asana in her daily morning routine & sadhana.

She is constantly growing & evolving by practicing various styles of yoga, regularly attending workshops & trainings, and reading books & articles to further her knowledge & understanding. Heather loves the fact there is always further to go in yoga and is happy to be a dedicated eternal student on the yoga path.

    Yoga Teacher Training

Can't recommend this course enough! Heather is a super supportive teacher and the course is full of in-depth, useful and well thought out material and interesting teachers. Not your typical teacher training that rushes you through a month course, this 8 month course gives you the chance to fully integrate what you learn to be come a safe and knowledgable teacher. Not only developing yourself as a teacher but really going deep into your own personal practice. The asana is vinyasa based but Heather really champions you making it your own, and exploring different styles. Every one of us trainees have finished the course in our own personal style. Transformative!
  2. 200 hr teacher training

I have really loved working with Heather and have found her so supportive. Its been an intensive 8 months, I have mixed emotions around finishing. I feel that I have grown personally as part of the course. I have found the self-care elements of the course benefitable and feel I have embedded into life-long habits. It has been wonderful to watch my fellow trainees develop into teachers alongside me and feel I have made life long friends. I have loved the guest teachers and have learned a lot from all of them. Though I feel I still have much to learn I feel confident to start teaching and am excited by the new chapter I am moving on to.

    200 Hours HeatherYoga Teacher training

the course overall has been incredible, Heather's complete faith in us, Highs and lows along the way, in hindsight I hadn't realised the energy it would take, however this has made me really rethink and value yoga much more in my own life. I don't think I could ever do this in an intense block and get the same out of it as it all needs time to digest and make real in your life. The variety of learning from philosophy, anatomy, teaching and different yoga practices was extensive. I was sceptical about the hybrid approach (online and some studio) but pleasantly surprised how possible this is to do online, different teachers, different approaches were really well brought in. Adored the buddy system and the way this helped us bond as a group. The only thing I think would suggest improving is the opportunity to teach within the class setting more actively each time, rather than that be a suggestion to do outside of the course, only because this is something I wilfully avoided regularly!

Yoga Unwrapped Teacher Training (200 Hours)

A well-balanced course that covers a lot of information in the time. I really enjoyed the asana, anatomy and practical teaching (from day one!) aspects of the course. I feel this was a huge step on my yoga journey and so pleased I studied with Heather Yoga - I'm looking forward to continuing my teaching and learning, and seeing what happens next!

Heather Yoga 200 Hour Teacher Training Course

Heather's Yoga Teacher Training course is absolutely brilliant. Heather is a supportive and inspiring teacher. She isn't just teaching us to be a Yoga Teacher, she is teaching us to find and uncover the individual Yoga teacher that is within each of us. She encourages us to teach from our own background and experiences so that we are true to ourselves and our students. The course is extremely well structured with a variety of teaching techniques and methods that help all of the new information sink in, but also to make it immediate, relevant, and practicable. The teaching style is always fun, with one of Heather’s ‘go-to’ instructions being to “be playful”. The guest teachers are well selected with a broad range of topics and they are all experts in their fields.
