Overview

Hello and welcome to Indyoga, thank you for taking the time to visit.

So, how did I find myself teaching yoga and what does Indyoga offer to you as a student of Yoga? Way back over 30 years ago, I trained full time for five years to be a professional dancer, but having sustained a serious back injury very early in my training I left dance school without a career path, not much spinal mobility and with serious lower back pain! I continued to do the best I could with an injury, yet I worked in a stressful, corporate environment as a Freelance Project Event Director, I climbed mountains, took up water skiing and other wake and water sports to an intermediate level, but the pain always remained and there was always something missing from my love of dance & movement.

Several years ago a boyfriend introduced me to Yoga in the hope of easing my back pain and I was hooked right away! I attended classes in my local community and Yoga became part of my therapeutics and rehabilitation. The injury became manageable and the chronic pain began to diminish, allowing me to come off my prescription medication completely, as well as reducing spinal injections and expensive regular physio treatments. The reason I am telling you all this is not for sympathy or empathy, it is more to say that Yoga saved my back from what I had put it through dancing and my other demanding sports, interests and having a fulfilling life!! I now know that Yoga was the key fundamental practice that was needed in my life to reduce and maintain my physical and mental well-being… so here we are 7 years later as a ‘Real Flow Yoga’ and registered Yoga Alliance instructor… and Indyoga was born.

Indyoga offers community classes and private 1-2-1 sessions in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Surrey and using the experience and knowledge I gained from managing large corporate events I found it a natural progression to arrange local classes, workshops and retreats. With the sole intention to help others feel better about themselves, to assist anyone coming to the mat from injury or illness, to encourage a beginner to come to their first class or motivate improving & intermediate students to maintain commitment in their existing yoga, my only hope is your fulfilment and enjoyment of yoga.

My approach to teaching is positive and encouraging, fun and inclusive. I am not only passionate about being mindful within your own body and movement, but finding your own path in Yoga, and supporting you to find ways to heal through the many benefits a regular practice can bring. I trained with the school of ‘Real Flow Yoga School' that embodies correct alignment to give a balanced sequence within our physical postures as well as mental and spiritual transformation through positive psychology, bringing 'Flow State' to our Yoga practice and our daily lives with emphasis on the cultivation of mindfulness, trust and authenticity.  It is these 3 key qualities that unlock the flow state within us all! The 'Real Flow Yoga' ethos being 'Yoga that attunes us to the Flow of Life'.I am also a qualified Reiki practitioner and would love to work with anyone that would benefit from the healing and relaxing practice of Reiki.

I am sure that you will enjoy all the wonderful aspects that Yoga can bring you and where you seek to find fulfilment. I welcome you to your mat and look forward to seeing you in class soon.

Adrianne has been a great, consistently supportive and inspiring teacher. I met her first on line during lockdowns of 2020. She is always positive, authentic, calming and welcoming. She provides us with readings, extra advice about health and strength and shows care and expertise. A wonderfully creative and expansive teacher.

Adrianne is a super competent, friendly, knowledgeable yoga teacher. Her classes are a joy; varied enough that you don’t do the same thing over and over, but structured so that you get to know well what she is teaching over a few classes before she introduces some nee elements. She is supportive and helpful - I recommend her to everyone!
