This course is mainly designed for Iriness students, who have completed the level 1 Yoga Beginners Course (20 hours) and have practised continuously for at least 2 months. This course will take you deeper into the practice and theory of Ashtanga yoga. We will explore our connection with the mind, breath, bandhas, and bodies through the practice of the Primary (Yoga Chikitsa or Yoga Therapy) and Finishing sequences. We will also learn the basics of Ashtanga yoga philosophy along with new concentration and breathing techniques.
Course modules
Postural Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga module
The Primary series (Yoga Therapy) up to Navasana.
The Finishing sequences.
The methodology and alignments of the postures as well as the vinyasa count.
Bandhas, breath and drishti work: establishing practice with stronger foundations and balanced flow.
Mind & breath module
Concentration and breathing techniques to connect your mind with your body.
Yoga philosophy module
Ashtanga philosophy and Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga method.
Basic concepts of the Yoga Sutra scripture of Patanjali.
Yoga practice in daily life.
Course students
Prerequisite: completion of the Iriness Yoga Beginners Course Level 1 and at least 2 months of Ashtanga self-practice.

Course timeline
The course consists of 3 sessions of 2 hours each on Saturdays at 11am – March the 3rd, 10th, and 17th.
We recommend attending our regular classes twice a week during the course to settle this new knowledge into your mind and body. Attendance to the Saturday 9am counted class is the best way to prepare for the course session at 11am.
