Workshop summary |

This series of four weekend sessions (satsangs) with the esteemed yoga scholar and renowned philosophy teacher Swami Nityamuktananda aims at exploring topics, captivating minds and hearts of both yoga beginners and experienced practitioners and teachers.

Swami Nitya will share her wisdom on four subjects:

  • Root of yoga.
  • Introduction to the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali.
  • Introduction to the Five Elements or Mahabhutas concept.
  • Discourse on the purpose of life.

You can either attend all four sessions (~2 hours each) or choose any of them individually. There will be three sessions on Saturday, 20th of October and one on Sunday morning, 21st of October.

Session 1 – The root of yoga |

  • Saturday, 20th of October 2018 | 9:00 – 11:00.
  • In our modern world there are so many, often confusing variations of yoga or of what is understood by the word “yoga”. So what is yoga? Was it always  like a great form of gymnastics? Is there more to it? And what was it originally, all those thousands of years ago? Where does  yoga actually come from, where did it start, what were its original intention and meaning? We will explore…

Session 2 – Introduction to the Yoga Sutras |

  • Saturday, 20th of October 2018 | 11:30 – 13:30.
  • Nowadays the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali are held as the authentic scripture about yoga. Are they the only ones?  Or even are they the oldest ones? Who wrote them? What is the overall meaning and intention of the Yoga Sutras?  What do they say about the practice of yoga? We will explore…

Session 3 – Introduction to the Five Elements (Mahabhutas) |

  • Saturday, 20th of October 2018 | 15:00 – 17:00.
  • In many cultures as well as in modern physics it is understood, that ultimately everything roots in one energy. Albert Einstein called it the unified field or it can be also called – the unified intelligence field. Yet, because of our five senses, we perceive this energy as five different energy fields. The mixture of these determines their form in our dimension of existence. The same is true for us. We, like everything else, exist out of these five elements. What does it mean? How are they connected to yoga? We will explore..

Session 4 – Purpose of life |

  • Sunday, 21st of October 2018 | 10:00 – 12:00.
  • Most of us get frequently to the point to ask ourselves why I am here? What is the meaning of my life? Or more even:  what I am supposed to be doing here on this earth? Usually, we come to these questions either because something challenging happened in our life, or because we took time out from the “rat-race” and started focussing on ourselves. How can we find answers for ourselves? What do the wise people, beyond time, tell us? Let’s explore some  guidelines, some universal wisdom…
