Lead Teacher

This inspiring and practical teacher training taught by Family Yoga Teachers Siobhan Power and Emma Charvet, is run online over four weeks with live sessions tailored to your needs. You will be supported throughout the course by a mentor with individual feedback on assignments and two interactive live-streamed discussion sessions.

The course covers understanding family dynamics, managing energy for different age groups, creative planning and games, partner poses, family acrobatics and encouraging bonding during calm and relaxation. It will deepen your knowledge of teaching yoga to adults and children and provide a practical Toolkit for setting up and delivering inspiring, creative classes that nurture the bonds between children and their carers. We teach students to find their unique teaching voice to become confident, passionate teachers.

The focus of our Family Yoga Teacher Training is on learning to teach creatively and mindfully so your classes are tailored to the ages and needs of your families. Each online learning day involves learning through dynamic yoga practice. You will need a yoga mat and a partner, friend or child to practice the pre-recorded family yoga classes in your own time. These involve fun partner, acrobatic and relaxation activities. The scheduled live discussions do not require a partner.

Training Manual: A fully illustrated Family Yoga training manual is provided on starting the course and includes an extensive teaching toolkit including themes, class plans, poses, sequences, games, breathwork & mindfulness  for children aged 3-12yrs.

Minimum Requirements: Students should have a regular and committed yoga self-practice before embarking on the course and a 200 hour Yoga Teaching qualification.

Teachers: Teachers on the programme are Emma Charvet, Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals, whose area of focus is therapeutic yoga and mindfulness for children with special needs. She is partnered by Senior Yoga teacher Siobhan Power who is passionate about spreading the love of Family Yoga. Emma and Siobhan have been teaching yoga to children and families in schools and yoga studios for over a decade in the UK and South Africa.

Assignments: The course includes a video and written assignment to design a class plan and record a teaching activity. Individual feedback is given by a mentor on all assignments.

Assessment: Successful completion of the course is based on completion of the online learning, written and video assignments and final assessment via pre-recorded video sent in to teachers. This involves students recording a class at home with a partner, friend or child. Individual feedback is given on the assessment.

Qualification: This is a vocational course accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals. On completion students will receive a 25 hour Family Yoga Teaching Certificate and  students will be eligible for membership and insurance with Yoga Alliance Professionals.
