My Yoga and mindfulness classes strive to be inclusive, body positive and empowering and I endeavour to create a safe, inclusive environment where everyone can feel equally welcome and comfortable, regardless of their experience in YOGA . I also offer plenty of choices around what shapes and movements work best for individual students. .
For me , Yoga is not about competing or striving to reach 'perfect' poses, but rather it is a journey of self discovery and the cultivation of balance and strength and body awareness and the practice of collectivism, I try to work with my clients to develop their own practice in a supported environment, enabling them to grow more physically strong and confident and to cultivate self and collective awareness and to develop strategies for managing their nervous system regulation using a number of different practices .
I believe in accessible Yoga and think it’s benefits should be available to all members of the community and so I offer concessionary and full bursary classes for unwaged and low income people ( please email me for more details ) and for people who have no recourse to public funds. (NRPF)
My teaching style-
I specialise in teaching gentle Vinyasa Yoga, which has a focus on synchronising gentle movement with intentional breathing . My classes are designed for every body; both those with previous experience of Yoga and people who are completely new to it
I am a trauma sensitive Yoga teacher ( TCTSY trained) with chair yoga teaching qualifications and I and I specialise in teaching Yoga in the community .
I have worked with groups with complex and additional needs and with marginalised groups such as displaced people, survivors and those experiencing homelessness I have completed trauma informed Yoga teacher training with OURMALA (Yoga with Refugees) teacher training and I have also completed an accessible Yoga training with The Accessible Yoga Training School and Trauma sensitive Yoga teacher training ( TCTSY )
As well as teaching Yoga, I run a non profit organisation called weareone: collective that facilitates creative and psychosocial projects with refugees and asylum seekers and people who have no recourse to public funds in the UK, we offer mindfulness strategies, wellbeing support and resilience based trainings to them and also we work with 3rd sector workers and volunteers, human rights defenders, activists and community organisers and humanitarian responders who are engaged in migrant support and solidarity, anti oppression and peace-work and other anti racist and deconolial practices . This work uses PARS methods, yoga based movement practice, but also draws from other somatic traditions, such as Somatic Experiencing, TRE, Capacitar, CIT ( Compassion and Integrity based Training ) We also incorporate Polyvagal theory and cognitive neuroscience based scientific theory into our toolkit .
I am based in Kent UK and I am available to instruct groups and individuals across the UK and internationally both in-person and online.
