Are you seeking an awakening or a transformation that will help you lead a more grounded, heart-centred life, true to your most authentic self so you can help others to do the same? 


Life can be messy. Often our minds can feel pulled in so many directions, conflicted and triggered by things that throw us off balance. What we do know however, is that the breath ( Pranayama ) is our superpower,  a way to transform the mind and bring the body back into balance.


Course Intention


This 40 hours CPD course includes 3 weekends over 6 months through simple conscious breath work techniques that shift the activity of the ANS alongside the deeply transformative qualities of Pranayama that help us to go inwards (Pratyahara) and develop a greater ability to focus and concentrate to experience Meditation (Dharana, Dhyana,  Samadhi)  


Course summary:


  • In depth study of the importance of deep breathing, management of the breath and how it affects the nervous system.


  • Difference between simple breathing and Pranayama, Inhale, Exhale, and Retention
  • Hatha Yoga -The process of Sun and Moon, Prana and Apana.


  • Therapeutic & spiritual value of each Pranayama
  • How the breath works in terms of anatomy and physiology. The interplay of oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitric oxide.


  • Preps and Kriyas, Kapalabhati, Agni Sara, etc
  • The importance and anatomy of the pelvic floor, 
  • Bandhas Mudras and Mantras
  • Correct performance of each Pranayama
  • How to guide someone in basic breathing


  • The 8 limbs of Patanjali Yoga
  • Kundalini, What is it how do we access it?



Who will be teaching you?

 

It's so rare for Western Yogis to be connected to a living tradition because many of the great Yogic Masters have passed. However, Vicki Shields is a direct student of Sri OP Tiwari from Kuvalayanada’s  lineage. She blends the knowledge of ancient yogic wisdom and contemporary scientific research, Sharing her experience from over 25 years of dedicated of study & practice. Her style of teaching is a combination of practice, lecture and discussion giving her students a full understanding of the incredible potential of their body, breath and mind. 



You will receive a comprehensive manual full of the science, and philosophy and will be guided to develop a self practice journal. You will be fully mentored through practice, with a one to one tutorial via Zoom as well as a  free pass to the Pranayama Community classes two mornings a week. 

Attendance of all 3 weekends is required with additional home practice and reading.

These events are now held at Studio 17 Egerton Road South Stockport SK45BR. There is a kitchen, outdoor quiet space and is very conducive to this more meditative and therapeutic approach to practice. Plenty of free parking and 5 mins walk from Heaton Chapel Train Station.
