The next Ashtanga Yoga Glastonbury Teacher Training 200 hour Diploma course accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals will begin on July 24th 2022 with a 6 day induction week followed by 8 weekend modules. Please email to request an application form.

The teacher training course will qualify the trainees to teach yoga on completion and will be spread over one year, consisting of a six day induction followed by eight weekend modules.


We are so looking forward to delivering this training. Since the beginning of the pandemic it has become apparent how valuable all aspects of yoga can be in helping us to deal with all that life throws our way. The more people who can get out there and spread their love of yoga the better!
The main teacher trainer will be Jane Piddington.
Brian Cooper will teach an adjustment weekend in October and Christoph Seiland will teach a weekend of anatomy and biomechanics in March 2023. These will be open to past graduates.
All training dates will be held in Ashtanga Yoga Glastonbury's home venue - a light and airy hall in the heart of Glastonbury town yet containing the peace and quiet of the countryside.

This teacher training course will provide the trainee with the knowledge and skills required to teach yoga safely and with confidenceThe training will be based around Primary Series Ashtanga Yoga and will encourage students to find their own style and way of teaching. It is spread over a year to encourage trainees to grow in their own practice and understanding of yoga, while developing their teaching technique and individual style.
By the end of the course trainees will qualify as safe, creative yoga instructors ready to impart the valuable teachings of yoga to others.
COURSE CONTENT:Teaching and practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga to its full potential with correct use of breath, energetic locks and sequence
Adjustment technique, practice and how to use it to deepen the practice of others and your own
Modifications and adaptations of postures to work with injury and different kinds of bodies
Anatomy, biomechanics, physiology and alignment of postures
Yoga history, philosophy and how it relates to modern day yoga and life in general
Teaching Mysore-style
Developing basic skills and understanding required for effective teaching.
Eg listening, observation, communication skillsPrinciples of stretching—understanding different stretching and releasing techniques and working with practical application
Developing pranayama practice and learning to teach it to others
Developing a regular practice of Shatkarmas Eg. Nauli and jala neti
Reading yogic texts and discussion of their meanings
Yoga nidra benefits and practice
Lesson and course planning and delivery of sessions to class sizes from individuals to large groups
Business skills -Setting up and running classes including promotion through the web and other sources
Teaching yoga online

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:The applicant will already have a regular yoga practice (this does not need to be Ashtanga) and a passion to share their joy of yoga with others. They will have been practicing yoga regularly for a minimum of 2 years.
On returning the completed application form the applicant will be contacted within 10 days to arrange an interview (if necessary) by phone, Skype or in person. A deposit of £600 will be required on acceptance to secure your place.
COURSE DETAILS:The course will be comprised of 180 contact hours and at least 20 non–contact hours of homework, reading, research and teaching practice.
There are is a minimum of 8 places and maximum of 12. You will be required to attend all teaching days to qualify for the certificate, unless there is a good reason for absence. All tasks should be completed by the end of the course. Brian Cooper, head of Yoga Alliance Professionals, will teach an adjustment weekend. Christoph Seiland will teach a weekend of anatomy, biomechanics and looking at yoga injuries and how to avoid them.

THE TEACHERS:Jane Piddington will be the main teacher trainer. Jane is a Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals. She has been teaching Ashtanga vinyasa yoga since 2000 and began her teacher training with Brian Cooper in 2002. 
Her development is ongoing with trips to top teachers around the world and throughout the UK, although her main teachers are Brian Cooper, Jai Prakasah and Lucy Crawford. She has been teacher training since 2015 and Ashtanga Yoga Glastonbury is a registered training school with Yoga Alliance Professionals.
Brian Cooper is the founder and director of Yoga Alliance Professionals which he set up to raise the standards of yoga teaching in this country and beyond. He has been practicing for over 40 years and teacher training for 20 and is the co-founder of the training body Yoga Alliance Professionals. He is the author of The Art of Adjusting - a must have book for any yoga teacher.
Christoph Seiland is a trained doctor as well as a long term yoga practitioner. He has been teaching anatomy and biomechanics on Ashtanga Yoga Manchester's teacher training and is a major asset to our training course."
