This training explores the practice and teachings of yin yoga from a functional approach of how we adapt poses to each individual, to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) fundamental theories and how we can stimulate the fascias and meridians with yin yoga asanas.
Yin is an introspective practice that provides an opportunity to turn inward and cultivate calm. It is the practice of stillness, the true essence of yin yoga: the art of slowing down.
Traditionally, the practice of yoga has focused on more active, dynamic styles. With modern life being so active, stressful, and resulting in an excess of yang, it's no surprise that Yin Yoga has risen to the occasion, providing a more relaxing, revitalising, grounding practice with significant benefits for body, mind, and soul. It’s crucial for yoga teachers to understand the theory of yin and yang and how they intermix to create a balanced practice.
This training is designed to place you in the role of the student as you apply the concepts of Yin Yoga and TCM to your own personal practice. During this training, you will explore Eastern philosophy, Yin Yoga, TCM theory and asana clinics. Finally, you'll practice the skills Yin teachers use to support their student balance: situations in which someone needs to stretch, relax, and slow down.
In short, you’ll learn how yin yoga works and how to combine it with TCM principles to teach deeper, richer, and enhanced yin yoga classes. Welcome to the first step on your way to understanding the yin yoga process!
