Overview

I started my yoga journey whilst on holiday in Goa in 2000 and have been practising Ashtanga yoga for over 17 years now.

I began teaching in 2010 having completed my Yoga Alliance 200-hour RYT Teacher Training in Ashtanga in 2009 with Brian Cooper.  I am qualified with Yoga Alliance Professionals, Chartered Level 1 with over 800 Hours training and over 7 years teaching experience.

I have been fortunate to have practiced at the Shri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India with Shirath.

I have also attended a David Swenson’s Teacher Training workshop in Manchester, which was an amazing experience, honour and privilege and I have attended workshops by Matt Ryan, Manu Jois, Matthew Sweeney, Joey Miles, Kino McGregor and David Williams.

Following the passing of my beautiful little girl Scarlet, after a difficult battle with brain cancer diagnosed when she was just 4 years old, I needed a different type of yoga practice and so studied Yin and MBSR Restorative Yoga Therapy with the Mindful Yoga Academy and Rocket Yoga with It’s Yoga in Florence.  I needed some balance of Yin and Yang in my life and practice through this difficult and on-going grieving time of my life.  Yin and Restorative Yoga Therapy have supported me through this difficult time and I like to share these practices, with passion in the hope that they can help others who may need support particularly for stress and anxiety and grief.

I am passionate about Yin Yoga. I love practising Mindful Yin and teaching yin. I studied Advanced Yin Yoga with Norman Blair and Sarah Lo and have assisted Norman on his first yin training in Manchester early this year.

I also wanted to be of service to my local community and studied Pre and Post Natal Pregnancy Yoga with Uma Dinsmore Tuli and Yoga London and now teach Pre-natal Classes, locally and offer private sessions.

I love teaching Mindful Ashtanga and now Mindful Yin, Restorative and Pregnancy Yoga.

Ashtanga can be practised by everyone and is suitable for all levels.  It   can be an extremely challenging practice but also by being mindful in your practice using breathe, variations and modifications it can suit everyone.

Yin can also be challenging owing to the long holds, but it works in a very different way, increasing flexibility of the joints and connective tissues, stimulating the meridian channels to balance ones Chi and is a very satisfying, deep releasing meditative practice.

Ashtanga is a dynamic Yang practice engaging and strengthening muscles, Yin focuses on the joints and connective tissues that become tight and stiff as we get older.

We need both Yin and Yang in our lives to create balance.  It’s important to take time out of our busy lives to bring our focus inwards and develop our self awareness.   Yin is the perfect practice for this.

I am honoured to be able to teach yoga and to pass on what I have learnt to others.

My yoga practice brings peace and calm into my life and a huge sense of well-being.  It keeps me strong both physically and mentally and will always play an important part in helping me to keep focus and balance in my life.  During the past 5 years of my life I have experienced extreme challenge, change and difficulty and the one thing that has kept me going through all the difficult times and what will keep my going into my future is my yoga, but also being able to pass on and share what I have learnt to others.

To me, that's Yoga!

I dedicate my practice and offer my teachings of yoga in the name of Scarlet-Rose Kearns, my brave little warrior, a great and inspirational, warm hearted, great teacher.
