Overview

Helen started practicing yoga in 1991 as new mum-to-be, working in an exciting but stressful job in the film industry. It has played a major part in her life ever since and she has been teaching for almost 20 years.

A registered Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals, Helen completed her initial teacher training, a BWY 3 year teaching diploma, in 2005 and has subsequently continued to further her studies, including completing an Ashtanga yoga teacher training with John Scott and Lucy Crawford in 2010, as well as specialist trainings in restorative yoga, teaching teenagers and pre and post natal yoga. More recently, she has qualified as a Somatic Movement Coach, having completed her 200 hour training and case studies with Align Somatics as well as completing the Yoga4Health 60 hour training to teach their 10 week protocol.

Based in Dorset, Helen founded ‘Yoga at the Space’, in 2014, where she teaches a schedule of weekly classes. She also mentors and supports other teachers through her mentorship and continuous teacher development programmes and runs regular retreats and workshops both in Dorset and Internationally.

Helen believes in in the importance of holding a gentle and nurturing space for people to explore their practice. She shares these practices from her own place of inquiry and curiosity and encourages practitioners to do the same.  She is also passionate about the importance of making these practices as accessible as possible to the wider community and is honoured to be a part of the Urban Yogis UK teaching team. Urban Yogis UK provides support to young people and communities by using yoga, education and relationships to create positive futures. Their aim is to make Yoga accessible to all so that it breaks down social, economic, gender, cultural and any other barriers that prevent people from practicing.

She is currently furthering her study and knowledge of yoga as a therapeutic modality through the Yogamedicine® advanced teacher training programme.
