The next Ashtanga Yoga Glastonbury Teacher Training 200 hour Diploma course, accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals will begin end of July 2018. Check back in Spring 2017 for exact dates.
The course will be spread over one year, consisting of a six day induction followed by eight weekend modules.
The main teacher trainer will be Jane Piddington, assisted by Françoise Schelstraete and Susanna Graziano. Brian Cooper will guest to teach a weekend module on adjustment and Christoph Seiland will teach 2 separate days of anatomy and biomechanics.
All training dates will be held in Ashtanga Yoga Glastonbury's home venue - a light and airy hall in the heart of Glastonbury town yet containing the peace of the countryside
This teacher training course will provide the trainee with the knowledge and skills required to teach yoga safely and with confidence
The training will be based around Primary Series Ashtanga Yoga and will encourage students to find their own style and way of teaching.
It is spread over a year to encourage trainees to grow in their own practice and understanding of yoga, while developing their teaching technique and individual style,
By the end of the course trainees will qualify as safe, creative yoga instructors ready to impart the valuable teachings of yoga to others.
COURSE CONTENT:
Teaching and practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga to its full potential with correct use of breath, energetic locks and sequence
Adjustment technique, practice and how to use it to deepen the practice of others and your own
Modifications and adaptations of postures to work with injury and different kinds of bodies
Anatomy, physiology and alignment of postures
Yoga history, philosophy and how it relates to modern day yoga and life in general
Teaching Mysore-style
Developing basic skills and understanding required for effective teaching.
Eg listening, observation, communication skills
Principles of stretching—understanding different stretching and releasing techniques and working with practical application
Developing pranayama practice and learning to teach it to others
Developing a regular practice of Shatkarmas Eg. Nauli and jala neti
Introduction to other yoga styles
Reading yogic texts and discussion of their meanings
Yoga nidra benefits and practice
Lesson and course planning and delivery of sessions to class sizes from individuals to large groups
Business skills -Setting up and running classes including promotion through the web and other sources
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The applicant will already have a regular yoga practice (this does not need to be Ashtanga) and a passion to share their joy of yoga with others. They will have been practicing yoga regularly for a minimum of 2 years.
COURSE DETAILS:
The course will be comprised of 180 contact hours and at least 20 non–contact hours of homework, reading, research and teaching practice
There are a minimum of 10 places and maximum of 18
You will be required to attend all teaching days to qualify for the certificate, unless there is a good reason for absence.
All tasks should be completed by the end of the course
in order to gain certification at the graduation.
