Overview

Catherine Annis is well known for her imaginative and practical approach to yoga. In 2017 she created the Intelligent Yoga Teacher Training Course (iytt), a 12 month, anatomically focused teacher training course with world-leading guest teachers including Gary Carter.

Originally a professional dancer, she discovered yoga as a teenager, and has been  practising since the mid 1970s.  Having studied various styles of yoga including Sivananda, Iyengar, Astanga and various forms of Hatha yoga, she eventually gravitated to the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli.

Catherine’s daily yoga practice and  teaching focuses on deepening physical awareness and  alignment to reveal and release the natural freedom of the body, particularly the spine.  She holds a Masters degree in ballet studies, and is a qualified Thai massage  practitioner, and it is this interest in the body which informs and inspires her teaching.

Several years ago, Catherine identified the need for an anatomically focused teacher training course, which would offer the next generation of teachers a clear understanding of movement and the confidence to adapt classes for their individual students.  She founded the 300+ hour accredited yoga teacher training course at www.IntelligentYogaTeacherTraining.co.uk.  She also created the annual Scaravelli inspired yoga immersion course, a 5 day in person CPD which takes place in Sussex each May and focuses on revealing the depth and intelligence of the body through Scaravelli inspired yoga.
