Overview

LKY is owned by Louisa Craig, senior yoga teacher and teacher trainer.  Louisa started up LouisaYoga in 2003 after completing a childrens yoga teacher training course with ‘YogaBugs’ (famed for its success on TV programme, Dragons Den). Louisa has been practicing yoga since 1996 and it became a passion that she wanted to share.

In 2006, Louisa qualified as an RYT200 adults yoga teacher in the jungles of Costa Rica, and was able to share her passion and help people from all walks of life find themselves (mentally, physically, emotionally & spiritually). She went on to train in advanced yoga teacher training in Mexico and in India, to complete her 500 hours as a senior yoga teacher.

Always a student, she has continued to train with top yoga teachers worldwide to this day. She is also trained as an advanced reiki healing practitioner, which she incorporates into her one-to-one yoga classes, and has diplomas in Tantra, Feng Shui, Ayurveda & Moonology.

In 2016 Louisa’s Yoga School ‘LKY Yoga Teacher Training’ was accepted and accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals to train people to become childrens yoga teachers, and in 2017 it was accepted and accredited to train people to become RYT200 adults yoga teachers. In 2018, LKY Yoga School won the Fitness Award at the prestigious Trend – Life & Style Awards! Louisa has since gone on to train many successful yoga instructors, is a teacher trainer for teens yoga and soon to be running many more training courses and a 300hr course (watch this space!).

Louisa prides herself on the quality and calibre of her graduates. Becoming a yoga teacher is a life transformation and a difficult and personal process so Louisa is on hand at every step of the way to provide her graduates and trainees with help, support and guidance. Louisa is approachable and accessible to all the needs of her students, trainees and graduates.

LOUISA'S TEACHING STYLE
'My type of yoga is a hybrid of styles (vinyasa krama, kundalini, hatha, ashtanga, etc.) combining pranayama techniques and bandhas to concentrate the prana (energy) in the body. It isn’t as fast or strong as power yoga but is more dynamic than hatha or yin yoga.
…We all hold tension and emotions in our bodies, which can eventually transmute into illness. My aim is to release the things we hold on to and peel away our ‘layers’ to find a purer, happier version of ourselves. My classes are esoteric and light-hearted, influenced by Rod Stryker, who teaches a style of yoga called ParaYoga.

In my practice, the aim of Asana is more than improved health, flexibility and strength; it is used as a technique to balance the main forces that sustain mind and the body. Asanas are used to transform the physical body, as well as, to unblock or remove the obstructions to healthy or balanced energy flow. This Tantric approach to Asana, is drawn from the ancient Yogic wisdom that suggests the quality of your energy determines your experience of life. Their explorations and experiences revealed that there were no energies or forces in the world that were not in the body, and none in the body that aren’t in the world. Thus, the central teaching on the Tradition is: if you master the life forces in your body, then you can master the forces in the world and, as a result, master your experience of and circumstances in the world'.

LKY Yoga Teacher Training School promises to expand your view of the world and your Self, to allow you to practice and teach yoga as a holistic science, increase your joy, capacity, creativity, freedom and self-awareness, and further develop your capacity to apply the principles of Yoga.

LKY Yoga Teacher Training School is a Yoga Educational Faculty set up to allow Yoga Practitioners & Yoga Teachers to evolve and develop into their greatest potential Selves. It allows all members to the community to connect & reflect and feel a sense of belonging.

All courses and workshops have a strong emphasis on yogic philosophy & theory and on building the foundations of practice to then allow each individual to develop their own authentic practice & style. All courses are Yoga Alliance Professionals accredited. Every lineage & style of yoga are accepted and embraced (within reason; there has been no goat or beer yoga so far) and the RYT200 training, and some others, have specialist senior teachers running masterclasses.

LKY Yoga School prides itself on the quality of the students it attracts; it has a friendly yet professional approach and uses diverse and forward-thinking ways of developing the yoga practitioner as a person and a teacher. We promise you a transformative personal journey. Every training gives the trainees what they need at the right time.

LKY now offers a 300hr YAP accredited course, which can be taken over a period of 3 years (or over one or two years) in various modules to allow the trainee to specialise in what inspires them most and to be able to fit the trainings around their family & working life. This ensures that we do not just churn out masses of 'generic' advanced yoga teachers. These modules can also be taken as ‘stand-alone’ courses, which are all Yoga Alliance Professionals accredited. Each LKY graduate will be able to share what yoga is to them in their own authentic style, without losing the 'real' essence of yoga along the way.

Courses offered will be RYT200, 300hrs, Childrens Yoga, Teen Yoga, Yoga & Ayurveda, Yoga & Tantra, Yoga & Moonology, 100hrs Advanced Yoga, Yoga for Mental Health, Yin Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga, Mother & Baby Yoga, 'Workshops, Retreats, Sequencing & Theming' module.

    LKY Teen YTT Feb 2021

Very good quality training. My first online training experience and a positive one. The content is exceptional and Louisa is very generous here, the quality of training material is also very good indeed. Course arrangement is flexible and caters for all student’s circumstances. I do feel that I have developed my knowledge through this training sufficiently to confidently deliver classes to Teens, which was my objective, and I would recommend this training.
  3. Teen Yoga Teacher Training

This is an excellent course. I learned so much about the brain development and other changes that children go through as they transition through the teenage years to adulthood. I would recommend it to anyone with children or teens that would like to learn ways to support them or anyone with a passion for working with young people.
  4. Children's Yoga Teacher Training

This was such a fun course! Louisa is so passionate about working with children and bringing them the joy of yoga. The course gives you the tools to confidently teach yoga to children and make it fun, while also allowing you to connect to your inner child.
  5. 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Louisa is hugely knowledgeable and passionate about Yoga and she guides you to bring the practices into your life and discover your true self. Her 200 hour course is designed to allow you to find your own authentic teaching style, while covering all the fundamental aspects of yogic phlosophy and practice. I very much enjoyed the masterclasses which were delivered by other yoga teachers too, as this really demonstrated the different styles and lineages of yoga.
